Anemometers - Air Speed - Vane - Hot WireAnemometers are used for measuring air speed. Hot wire, or thermal anemometers are used at lower velocities - typically in the range from about 0 fpm to 2,500 fpm; vane anemometers cover the range above about 500 fpm (sometimes lower) to the 8,000 - 10,000 fpm range. Many anemometers will also calculate the volume of air moved by inputting the duct dimensions or cross sectional area. Measurement of higher air velocities above the range of vane anemometers is via digital manometers with Pitot tubes.
