A properly maintained SCBA must be capable of meeting NIOSH / NFPA performance requirements. Unfortunately, given the hard usage that SCBAs receive, performance can sometimes "slip". Unless SCBAs are regularly tested to verify proper performance, a loss of function may not be noticed until after an accident has occurred. The PosiChek³ automatically determines the operational fitness of an SCBA by means of a series of dynamic tests and functional checks. PosiChek³ testers quantitatively determine whether the current performance of an SCBA meets NIOSH and NFPA requirements. Regular PosiChek³ testing ensures that SCBA which require maintenance are identified and can taken out of service before an accident occurs, not after. 

Testing is easy and automatic: attach the fully-assembled SCBA to be tested to the PosiChek³ test-head, and choose the tests to conduct. The PosiChek³ "Quick Test" performance testing cycle consumes less than 1% of the air supply, and evaluates the fully-assembled SCBA in less than 2-minutes! Once the tests have been completed, the information can be used to print reports and graphs of testing results, or simply stored in the form of easily searched or retrieved "database" files.
